Prosecutors Failed to Charge Foie Gras Company with Animal Cruelty
In
spite of the abundant documented evidence of animal abuse on the
part of foie gras producer Elevages Perigord, Crown Prosecutors in
Quebec failed to charge them with animal cruelty. Undercover footage
showed tearing off the heads of live ducks, kicking, throwing and
punching ducks, bashing live ducks against walls and floors,
suffocating and crushing live ducklings and slaughter of
fully-conscious ducks.
Farm Sanctuary's President, Gene
Baur, expressed his deep disappointment by saying, "The failure
to prosecute represents a break down in the enforcement system and
does not speak to the legality or the morality of practices at
Elevages Perigord," ... "The callousness, brutality and egregious
cruelty involved in producing foie gras is not supported by the
majority of citizens in any country. The documentation demonstrates
a clear attitude of cruelty which is endemic to the foie gras
industry."

Prosecutors fail to charge foie gras producer despite documentation
of sickening abuse
God’s animals are suffering
unimaginable cruelty because of humanity’s greed and quest for
profit. The callousness, hardness of heart and indifference toward
animals are shockingly widespread. To God’s animals, humanity can be
a curse or a blessing, and it’s up to each of us which path to take.
As Christians, we are called to reflect God’s love, compassion and
mercy, and participate in the reconciliation of God’s Creation.
