Change of Diet after Witnessing Cow being Slaughtered

The assistant director on Ryan Piers Williams' new movie The Dry Land stopped eating meat after witnessing the slaughter of a cow, a scene that was filmed for the project. Williams believes we are disconnected with the way wars are fought just as to how animals are slaughtered for food. About the cow slaughter he said, "It was very brutal to watch and to witness."

"An image is worth a thousand words." The slaughtering of an animal, a barbaric and brutal act no matter how humanely is carried out, is an eye-opening experience that can help people make mindful choices surrounding their diet. However, the article above helps us wonder, why didn’t all the witnesses make the same choice to stop eating meat as the assistant director? Is it easier to ignore suffering and give into our desires? In a Fallen world it’s indeed hard to not to follow our desires, but as Christians we are called to be obedient to God even in times of trial and temptation.
