This a very good op-ed by Peter Singer and Paul Shapiro in
regards to the barbaric, inhumane treatment of breeding sows kept in
gestation crates and furrowing crates for years of their lives,
without the chance to even turn around 24/7. Surprisingly, the pork
industry, in spite of public outrage and opposition of animal
advocacy groups and compassionate consumers, still tries to defend
this practice. After all, the National Pork Producers Council’s
communications director recently told National Journal, “So our
animals can’t turn around for the 2.5 years that they are in the
stalls producing piglets … I don’t know who asked the sow if she
wanted to turn around.”

The pork industry, one of the
most rotten industries that have ever existed, makes it clear that
they don’t care about people’s health, the welfare of God’s animals
or even the environment. Their only interest is profit. This is why
it’s more important than ever that people stop eating God’s animals
or their by-products. After all, there is no humane way to raise
animals for food.
