Ag-gag bills are a tactic that
the animal agriculture industry tries to use in order to criminalize
whistle-blowers who expose the egregious treatment of animals raised
for food. The good news is that these ag-gag bills seem to be off to
a very low start this year. Dr. Temple Grandin says ag-gag bills are
“the stupidest thing that ag ever did” and the San Francisco
Chronicle called the efforts “the worst PR gaffe since New Coke.”

Factory farmers off to slow start on ag-gag bills in 2014.
If factory farmers try to hide something is that they fear
something. In fact, they hide much: animal cruelty, abuse to
workers, environmental devastation, etc. so it shouldn’t surprise us
that they are trying to keep their practices behind walls. However,
the time has come for consumers to learn the true face of animal
agriculture and stop believing their deceiving commercials and ads.
Each of us, as stewards of God’s Creations, may do our part by
taking every opportunity we have to share the reality of what
raising animals for food entails. Also, our lifestyle speaks volumes
to all those who we interact.
