Vegetarianism Growing Rapidly in Spain

Spanish people are notorious for their love for animal products, especially meats. However, vegetarianism seems to be growing very fast in Spain, even faster than in the U.K. where vegetarianism is already very popular.

Since 2011, Spain has seen a 94 percent growth in the number of vegetarian restaurants. Almost double! Even Rodrigo de la Calle --the chef of the year at Madrid Fusion awards-- said, as reported by The Guardian, “If I could get away with it I wouldn’t cook with fish or meat at all.”
