1. Activist Feedback

Erika, leafleting with Jeff at Bridgeport, CT, writes: We were able to distribute 1 and ¾ boxes (725 booklets). At the event we had an overall a very positive response.

People were very willing to accept the literature and some read it while waiting in line. Only a few people refused and only two people gave back the leaflets after reading them.

I'm going to ask the priest of my church to see if he will allow us to distribute the rest of our booklets. I'm also going to ask my local library and community centers in my area. I'm so glad I was able to help the CVA spread the word of compassion for all life. I would love to do it again!

2. Please Become a Sustaining Member

Out outreach is only possible thanks to the generosity of our members.

To become a Sustaining Member, go to our membership page, and fill out the form, which will take you to the dues-paying section.

Or, you can send a check to
CVA, PO Box 201791, Cleveland, OH 44120.

Donations to the CVA are tax-deductible.

3. December issue of The Peaceable Table

* The Editorial "Wound Round with Mercy" reflects on a nursing mother's sudden perception of the presence of God as an all-loving, all-nurturing mother. How can this intuition of infinite maternal Love make sense in a world where we see the suffering of abandoned children and exploited baby animals?

* One of the NewsNotes reports the encouraging news of the passing of California's anti-cage Proposition 2.

* Alex and Me, the story of the relationship of the articulate African Grey parrot and his guardian, scientist Irene Pepperberg, is one of the books reviewed.

• In the Gems, Elie Wiesel urges us to "Take sides," because neutrality and silence always favor the oppressor.

* One of Angela Suarez' new recipes is a delicious vegan version of the old favorite, rice pudding.

The Peaceable Table is intended to be interactive; we are always happy to receive contributions from our readers.

Hopefully, this will help you in your dealings with carnivores who claim to be Christian.
