1. Veg Diet Beneficial for People with CKD

According to a new study, eating a vegetarian diet lowers kidney disease patients' levels of potentially toxic phosphorus in the blood and urine. This study examined the effects of vegetarian and meat-based diets on phosphorous levels in nine patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and found that a grain-based diet has a lower phosphate-to-protein ratio and much of the phosphate is in the form of phytate, which is not absorbed in humans. To read the full article please search online for Vegetarian Diet Cuts Kidney Patients' Levels of Toxic Phosphorus

A plant-based diet seems to be the most beneficial diet for our bodies, which we are called to take care of. A meat-based diet brings misery to us and to all of God’s Creation.

2. Famous Quote

"The great philosopher Schopenhauer, in criticizing how some Christians treat animals, wrote, “Shame on such a morality that fails to recognize the eternal essence that exists in every living thing, and shines forth with inscrutable significance from all eyes that see the sun.” All of us are celebrations of infinite mysterious Spirit, deserving of honor and respect."

~ Will Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet

3. The China Study – Interview with Dr. Campbell

T. Colin Campbell, co-author of "The China Study" and professor emeritus at Cornell University, talks about the success of the book, the research behind it, and why he thinks most of the chronic diseases that plague our country could be solved by adopting a plant-based. please search online for Nutrition advice from The China Study

There is plenty of evidence indicating that a plant-based diet is the most effective way to prevent and reverse many diseases, especially those chronic diseases – heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. -- so prevalent in wealthier countries. We can honor our bodies, and therefore God, by eating a well-balanced, ethical and compassionate plant-based diet that nourishes our bodies and our souls.

4. Bible Verse

(RSV) Colossians 3:12

"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience,..."

Cleary, Jesus ministry was focused and continues to do so, on compassion and kindness. As creations and children of God, we share His/Her essence of love, which we are called to reflect onto all Creation.

5. How to Solve the Obesity Epidemic

In an effort to urge government officials to take action and tackle the rampant obesity epidemic in the US, doctors and dietitians led by Neal Barnard, M.D., president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), protested outside the White House with a colorful 6-foot-high Power Plate food guide to highlight the federal government’s refusal to consider a healthy alternative to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s confusing MyPyramid . PCRM also delivered letters to President Obama and USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack calling on them to replace MyPyramid with the Power Plate. Earlier this month, PCRM sued the USDA and the Department of Health and Human Services for ignoring a petition to replace MyPyramid with the Power Plate. It’s fantastic that responsible health practitioners speak up and not only urge, but also educate our government officials on how to address the obesity epidemic in our country. Hopefully, more people will realize the powerful healing force of a plant-based diet.
