1. What Really is Behind the “Milk Mustache”

Although more and more people are learning the reality behind the production of animal products, still the majority of people ignore the very important facts that make cow’s milk one of the most unfit foods for humans, as well as one that is produced with unimaginable abuse and suffering. Dr. Will Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet, explains in detail the nuts and bolts involved in the production of cow’s milk, from the intense and relentless exploitation of dairy cows, to the brutal treatment of calves. People who learn these facts can no longer claim ignorance at the time of casting their vote (i.e. paying for dairy products). Please search online for The Bizarre and Outrageous Cruelty Behind Every "Milk Mustache"  and share this excerpt from The World Peace Diet with friends and family!

2. This Week’s Famous Quote

"Let me clarify: I am not a vegan because I “love animals”. Rather, veganism is about justice. It is not a “lifestyle choice”. It is not a “personal preference”. Veganism is not about you or me at all. It is about the fundamental right of nonhumans not to be used, owned, labeled, branded, enslaved, exploited and generally commodified to serve our interests and convenience."

~ Kerry Wyler, animal advocate

3. Animal Visuals’ New Tool

Animal Visuals offers a fantastic tool that shows a map displaying factory farms that animal protection groups have exposed through undercover investigations. The animal agriculture industry wants consumers to believe that these abuses are isolated cases; however, this map reveals a pattern of disregard for animal welfare and routine cruelty-to-animals throughout animal agriculture. Moreover, it also reveals the many legal, standard agricultural procedures that are cruel and cause prolonged suffering for animals. Please search online for Factory Farm Investigations Mapped and share!

4. This Week’s Bible Verse

(RSV) Isaiah 11:6-9

"The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea."

How uplifting and beautiful is this prophesy! However, Christians should realize that we play a crucial role for this "Peaceable Kingdom" to become a reality. As stewards of God's Creation we have the sacred responsibility and privilege to actively participate in the healing and reconciliation of Creation, which undeniably means not to cause unnecessary suffering or death to any of God's creatures. Therefore, the intake of animal products is not a trivial or inconsequential matter. It is, instead, a moral and religious matter of grave consequences for our health, God's animals and the environment.

5. Chinese Dogs: Food or Pets?

In China, each year as many as 10 million dogs are kept under horrid conditions and then sold for human consumption. There is a growing number of people that believe eating dogs is unethical and are working tirelessly to end this practice; however, many people also believe that eating dogs is a natural practice for humans. To read the article please search online for Chinese dog eaters and dog lovers spar over animal rights

Causing unnecessary pain, suffering and/or death to any of God’s animals certainly does not accord with Jesus’ teachings of compassion, mercy and love. In fact, it makes a mockery of God’s love for them.

6. This Week’s Video – Gary Yourofsky at Georgia Tech, July 8, 2010

I had the pleasure to listen to one of Gary Yourofsky’s presentations several years ago at Georgia Tech. To say the least, I was impressed! As I understand, he has one of the most effective lectures on veganism so far. Now you have the chance to watch one of his most powerful presentations and also share it with friends and family.
