What you eat might affect skin cancer
We’ve all heard that prolonged sun exposure and the lack of use of
sunscreen are the leading causes of skin cancer. However, recent studies
have shown that a diet rich and fruits and vegetables and low in fat
might also provide protection against skin cancer.
According to the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) a
mostly plant-based diet with five to 10 daily servings of a variety of
fruits and vegetables lowers overall cancer risk. Prevention is the key,
and in addition to a healthy diet it’s imperative to avoid sun and
indoor tanning, we should cover up with hats and long-sleeved clothing,
and use sunscreen liberally.
