Salmonella outbreak in Sweden
Despite Sweden's claim to have
poultry stocks with the lowest Salmonella infection rates in the EU,
a recent Salmonella outbreak forced the slaughtering of 100,000
birds. The Swedish Poultry Meat Association states on their website
that "Sweden has achieved efficient control of Salmonella, despite
the industrialization of animal production," ... "Due to the
control, both red and white meat produced in Sweden can today be
claimed to be virtually free from Salmonella." This outbreak has
proven the industry that they cannot let their guards down,
especially when they clearly thought it wouldn’t happen to them.

This kind of outbreaks should alert
us that working against God’s Creation can only bring misery to
humanity and animals. By manipulating and exploiting animals for
profit and pleasure we are failing at being good stewards of God’s
Creation.
