One Million Pounds of Beef Recalled
Cargill, one of the largest meat
processors in the world, announced on Nov 3 a beef recall of 1
million pounds of ground beef after a sample taken by the U.S.
Department of Agriculture (USDA) was confirmed positive for E. coli
O157:H7. Cargill Meat Solutions said the recalled ground beef was
produced at the Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, facility between October 8
and October 11, and distributed to retailers across the country.

In spite of the health risks
associated with raising animals for food, especially in factory
farms, the USDA and meat industry continue to exploit God's animals
for the sake of profit and taste. As stewards for God's Creation our
diet should accord Jesus' teaching of compassion, mercy and peace.
