Kosher Meat under Scrutiny
		Kosher meat has come under the public’s eye since the majority of 
		Israel’s beef, and a large portion of America’s kosher meat, comes from 
		South America where slaughterplants that produce kosher meat use the 
		“shackle and hoist” method: lifting them off of the ground by one hind 
		leg prior to slitting their throat, as is required by Israel’s chief 
		rabbis, the final authorities on kosher meat entering the Jewish state. 
		Last year People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) obtained 
		footage of kosher slaughter in Uruguay (http://tinyurl.com/2oe2hx)  
		shows animals struggling in the air and bellowing, and once on the 
		ground they are shown writhing and being restrained by multiple workers 
		who step on them and prod them before the cut.
