Tom Philpott, food and ag blogger for Mother Jones, raises the safety
issues with meat production in relation to the high rates of diabetes in
our country. Philpott cites recent studies that link certain toxic
substances called POPs (persistent organic pollutants) to diabetes,
which enter our meat supply through unethical practices like the ones
Monsanto uses, and get concentrated and recycled when the ag industry
engages in the shameful standard practices of feeding chickens to cows
and cows to cows. To read the article please visit Is Your Meat Habit
Giving You Diabetes?
Unethical, untrustworthy and corrupt are some of the words that
describe the animal agriculture industry. They have shown time and time
again that they lack respect and concern for human health, for the state
of the environment and obviously for the suffering of farmed animals.
Evident as this is, isn’t it dumbfounding that most Christian leaders
and their followers still support the meat, egg and dairy industries? We
have to do everything in our power to change hearts and minds in order
to encourage Christians to be true followers of Christ’s teachings.
