Saturated fat and cholesterol in meat don’t seem to be the only
culprits contributing to heart disease. Scientists have found that a
substance produced by bacteria in the intestines after people eat
red meat is quickly converted by the liver into another chemical
called TMAO that gets into the blood and increases the risk of heart
disease. Interestingly, scientists found that vegans did not show a
burst of TMAO in their blood after they ate steak.

Wouldn’t it make much more sense to encourage people to avoid
eating meat than to spend millions of dollars, time, energy,
resources and even suffering of animals in the experimentation
process, in the quest to find an antibiotic that would kill the
bacteria that produces the precursor of TMAO? Transitioning to a
plant-based diet heals all of God’s Creation.
