I think that the term “humane” is very misleading. “Less abused”
is probably a better choice. Factory farms have set the bar so
incredibly low that any improvement on the welfare of these animals
is termed “humane”, and many people believe in this because deep
down they don’t want to hurt God’s animals so they gravitate toward
choices that seem to cause less or no suffering.
However, it’s important to note that even in the best farms God’s
animals raised for food still suffer painful mutilations; still
their babies, milk or eggs are stolen from them; and still every one
of them faces the same fate: an early death that often involves much
pain and terror.
