Christian Vegetarian Association Presents:
Take Heart!
Farmer Having Second Thoughts

Bob Comis, a farmer in NY who raises 500 pigs with high animal welfare standards (compared to industrial farms) shares the guilt he feels for raising animals to be slaughtered. Comis believes he betrays pigs when he sends them to slaughter since these animals trust him; however, he doesn’t plan to stop being a pig farmer although he feels humanity should evolve to not kill to eat.

Please visit Farmer Confessional: I Raise Livestock and I Think It May Be Wrong.

Something inside this farmer’s heart tells him that what he is doing to pigs is wrong. He recognizes that pigs are intelligent and sensitive beings that shouldn’t be killed to become food for humans.
We all have this inner voice (inner wisdom, Holy Spirit, God’s essence) that helps us discern between right and wrong. We should try to be still more often in order to hear this inner voice so we act with compassion and love according to Christ’s teachings.
