IKEA, one of the world's largest furniture retailers also famous
for its Swedish meatballs, announced it will be launching a
vegetarian version of its signature dish in 2015 out of concern for
the environment.
"We are aware of the meat issue with greenhouse gases," Joanna
Yarrow, head of sustainability for Ikea in the UK, said. "We are
looking at all our food products from a sustainability perspective
but specifically meatballs. They are very popular and they are also
our most carbon-intensive food item on our menu."

The world is changing. Consumers care more about God’s animals,
health and the environment; and therefore, companies act in
accordance to consumers’ choices and demand. Our purchases should
align with our values and in this case IKEA has noticed that
consumers want a compassionate and sustainable food product. This is
the power that consumers have.
