1. This Week’s Sermon
From Frank and Mary Hoffman:
Hear My Prayer, O Lord, Give Ear to My Supplications!

2. Member Feedback
Norma Jean writes:
Thank you thank you thank you. I look forward to coming to work on
Mondays to see what CVA brings. I am a long-time veg*n but only recent
Christian. I could never figure out why "Christians" cared so little
about animals so I was not drawn to mainstream churches. CVA is making
all the difference for me in my religious growth.
3. CVA Activism
1. Karen in South Africa writes:
I am about to come to the end of your wonderful booklets "Are We Good
Stewards of God's Creation?" Please will you send me another box of
booklets?
I'm finding that this is a slow, but very positive mission. At first
I met so many hostile people who said that God has given us the animals
to eat. After giving them your booklet, or going through it with them,
they start to mellow and open their minds to the possibility that God is
a loving, merciful force for good in our lives who asks us to practice
compassion.
2. Jan Fredericks writes:
I went to Ocean Grove (a Christian resort at the Jersey shore) on
Saturday, where they had Mercy Me, a contemporary Christian band at
their Great Auditorium. I handed out CVA pamphlets and God's Creatures
Ministry (GCM) brochures. For CVA pamphlet, I said that it was about
factory farming, and people were glad to read about factory farming from
a Christian perspective. I like to have discussions with people, and one
man was really concerned about factory farming. I referred to it as
“evil,” and he seemed to agree.
One lady said that the Bible was clear that we can eat all meat. I
agreed, but said that God created us to be vegetarian as she was walking
away at which she said "no!" I recommended she read Genesis 1. I didn't
have the chance to discuss factory farming.
I met some musicians from NJ who performed at the Pavilion where
speakers and bands perform on the boardwalk. One was a vegetarian and
they want to help GCM.
I also left CVA leaflets with a couple of ice cream shops and other
stores where people in Ocean Grove go to on the Main St. I also gave
some to the people on line waiting for ice cream.
